Anke Schofield was born in Ithaca, New York in 1972 and apprenticed as a professional photographer assistant when she was still in the eighth grade. Her father introduced her to the wonders of the camera early in life. Anke took to the form readily and with enthusiasm. During high school, she studied and apprenticed with several artists in the New York area. She was awarded a Scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, where she earned a BFA in fine art. Throughout this period, Anke pursued her studies in color theory and painting, finding these endeavors to be greater creative stimuli and inspiration than she had experienced with her photographic work. Anke enjoys the interactions of materials and creating graphic compositions with unexpected outcomes. To her, there is no deeper meaning than the art experiment itself. Anke has been working as a professional in the fine art field in Atlanta, Georgia. “My work is inspired photographically, but I take it beyond the ordinary representation to create a harmonious blend of texture with composition”
